Short answer: These are 10 short, clean English jokes: knock-knock jokes and puns. Each joke has audio and a one-line note on why it is funny.
Jokes for children are mostly wordplay: one word with two meanings, or two words that sound alike. Getting a joke shows that a child hears the sounds and knows the meanings. Children aged 4 to 6 love knock-knock jokes because the pattern never changes. Tap a joke to hear it.
How a knock-knock joke works
- Teller: "Knock, knock." Listener: "Who's there?"
- Teller says a word, for example "Boo." Listener repeats it and adds "who?": "Boo who?"
- Teller says the punchline.
- For ages 4 to 6, start with the "Cow says" joke: all your child needs to know is that cows say "moo".
