How we make our content

English for Fun was founded by Dr. Hoang Quoc Chinh, who is responsible for its content. This page explains how we make the games and articles, so parents and teachers know what they can rely on.

Principles

  • We describe only what the games really do. For example, we say plainly that Letter Island teaches letter names, not phonics.
  • Claims about research, health guidance or other products link to their sources at the end of each article, with the date checked when the information can change.
  • Comparisons with other apps use only what their developers publish, and say when another app may suit you better.
  • No copyrighted characters, no ads, no personal data collected about children.

The voice

  • Every word and sentence in the games and on the site is a pre-recorded clip made with the Kokoro speech model (voice af_heart), the same voice in every game.
  • Where the model gets the stress wrong (for example thirteen, fourteen) we fix it with phonetic spelling.
  • It is a synthetic voice, not a native-speaker recording. If you hear a word said wrongly, please tell us.

How we use AI

  • We use AI tools to help write code, draft text and check work. The founder reviews content before it is published.
  • Cited information is checked against the original source, not taken from an AI model's memory.

Testing

  • Each game is tested automatically in a browser (clicking through the screens, checking that sounds load) before it is published.
  • We test on phones, tablets and computers; not on every interactive whiteboard.

Corrections

If you find a spelling mistake, a wrongly spoken word, out-of-date information or a game that does not work, please contact us. We fix it and update the date at the top of the article.
