Good to know

  • Weather words grow into sentences: rain becomes "It is raining", sun becomes "It is sunny", wind becomes "It is windy".
  • Leaf changes for more than one: one leaf, two leaves.
  • Cloud, flower and mountain all have the "ow" sound (as in "now").

Play at home

  • Every morning look out of the window and ask "Sun or rain?"
  • On a walk collect a leaf, a rock and a flower and name them.
  • At night find the moon and the stars together.

Practise with Word Island

Word Island practises all 18 nature words on Nature Park, which opens with full access. Each pack is a set of short games where the child hears, picks and builds the word, says it out loud, and then meets all the pictures again.
