Questions
How many words are there?
750 everyday words, each with a picture and a spoken voice.
Do I need to read English first?
No. Each word is spoken and shown with a picture, so you can start from zero.
How is Vocabulary different from the Early Learning games?
The Early Learning games are separate picture-word games for first learners. Vocabulary is stone 0 of the Learning Path, with 750 words and five kinds of activity.
What you will learn
- Hear and say 750 everyday words
- Match words to pictures
- Spell words letter by letter
- Review the words that are hard for you, again and again
How a lesson works
Every step is spoken, so you always know what to do. You write a sentence or a paragraph, then you read the same text, listen to it and say it. A rule card (💡 Grammar) and a sound lesson (👄 Sounds) are one tap away. The microphone is optional.
How the words are taught
You hear a word, see its picture and find it. Then you meet it again in short sentences, so the word stays with you. There are 750 everyday words, in small lessons you can finish in a few minutes.
Where to go next
When you know some words, the first writing stone joins two ideas into one sentence. The other islands (letters, numbers, shapes, colors, math and first reading) are on the Start from zero page.
How to practice
- Play a little every day: about 15 minutes is enough.
- Say the sentence out loud after the voice, even without the microphone.
- Repeat a lesson that feels easy. Repeating is practice, not a test.
- When you make a mistake, open the rule card and read the examples.
